Introducing Malusi
Malusi Mtetwa is a highly experienced operational paramedic with a diverse international background, having worked in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and currently Australia. Since entering the industry in 2006, he has seamlessly transitioned between operational, clinical, leadership and Emergency Medical care (EMS) education roles, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the EMS field. A particular highlight of his career was working in the ICU ambulance service in Johannesburg, where he provided critical care to low socio-economic populations. His exceptional skills were further showcased during the 2022 FIFA Soccer World Cup in Qatar, where he served as a Critical Care Paramedic, providing critical care in a high-pressure environment.
Malusi holds advanced degrees from Durban University of Technology, with a masters research focus on work-related stress among paramedics. He is a registered health practitioner in Australia as a Paramedic and South Africa as Emergency Care Practitioner. He is an active member of the Australasian College of Paramedicine. Beyond his clinical roles, Malusi serves as a Peer Support Officer to assist colleagues.
His commitment to research and improving workplace welfare, including active participation in
peer reviewing for paramedicine journals, drives his contributions to the field, advocating for comprehensive systems development in EMS through research.
